Road blocks will return

Minister of Interior Affairs, retired Major General Godwin Abe said the police would soon reintroduce roadblocks in the nations high ways to check criminals.

The minister noted that the police and other paramilitary formations will be retrained to enhance their capacity and enlighten them on the need to treat civilians with respect.
Major Gen Abe stated this in Port Harcourt while briefing top officers drawn from the police, prison, customs and immigration in the state.

According to him, the present administration of President Musa Yar-Adua is aimed at improving and upgrading the infrastructure in the Nigeria Police alongside other paramilitary outfits in the country.

He disclosed that the Nigeria immigration is a global window to outside world and called on the regulations of movement of immigrants in and outside the nation’s borders.

Major Gen Abe lauded the officers for ensuring peace and security in the South/South geo-political region, particularly in the Niger Delta area and charged them to be disciplined and to shun corrupt practices.

Responding on behalf of the formations, the Assistant Inspector General of police AIG for zone six, Mr. Adewole Ajakejie said the commands would partner the minister at ensuring high productivity and to improve the security networks in the region.
