Aero begins flights to Libreville

Aero Contractors has said that the dynamics of passenger movement informed its decision for route expansion to the West African sub-region.

The Managing Director of the airline, Mr. Koen Neven said, ‘The need to fill a yawning gap in the transportation requirement in the Central African zone prompted the operation of flights to Libreville, Gabon.’

Neven, who was represented at the inaugural flight on Tuesday by the Marketing Manager, Mr. Theodore Chikelu, noted that ‘ Libreville is like a hub in the Central Africa where passengers can connect different parts of the world, especially West Africa.”

Chikelu said that the idea was to consolidate the west coast, and to enable the exchange of trade, business, people and ideas within the region.

He explained that the airline had followed the traffic flow of what the market demanded, adding that Aero did not just pick any destination, but to fill a gap and provide the needed services.

He said, “The dynamics of passenger movement must be taken into consideration. When you are looking at the west coast, you are looking at both the Francophone and Anglophone countries. These countries tend to be identified by language.”

“The whole idea of consolidating the west coast is to enable the exchange of trade, business, people and ideas within the region and to do it much better than we have done before. So we have followed the traffic flow and what the market demands,” he added.

Chikelu said that the carrier was making excellent impact, just a few months after it began operations in Accra, Bamako, Mali, Malabo, Sao Tome and Principe, Lome and Libreville, Gabon.
