Foreign trip:Militants give FG 14-days ultimatum

A militant group, the Iduwini Volunteer Force (IVF), in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, yesterday, gave the Federal Government a 14-day ultimatum to stop the state governor, Chief Timipre Sylva from his alleged baseless foreign trips, saying that it is eating very deep into the resources of the state. The IVF in a letter, signed by its Commander, Johnson Biboye, addressed to President Umaru Yar Adua, entitled, Attempts by Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva to cause fresh crisis in Bayelsa State, a 14-day ultimatum for Federal Government to address the issue also urged him to urgently direct the Bayelsa state government to resolve all outstanding issue between the oil producing communities in Iduwini kingdom and the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) within 14 days.

All foreign workers , it warned, must urgently vacate the area until the issue are resolved, as we can no longer gurantee their safety in the area.

Iduwini volunteer force is now more determined to show through any means possibly that we have the capacity to defend our area and to show that we are fully incharge, the militant group stated.

Our case against Governor Sylva Our investigation has clearly shown that Chief Timipre Sylva is not only encouraging disharmony but that the state government is deeply involved in the recent kidnapping and unrest going on in the E.A/Bonga field area.

As close obsevers and active participants in the Bayelsa battle for better deal for our people , we are fully convinced that except the federal government urgently intervene, our governor is not in anyway ready to address the raising insecurity issue in the state mostly because some top official of his government have direct or indirect benefits from the crisis.

Your Excellency Sir, for peace to reign and reign supreme in Bayelsa and especially the Iduwini areas which houses notable oil/gas fields like, Ogbotobo, Tunu, Cloff-Creek, E.A, Bonga, Agbamu and the newly drilled sea petroleum field with production capacity of close to one million barrel per day, the governor must be called to order, the militant group asserted.
