Rivers to Sell Aircraft Purchased by Odili

Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, yesterday announced that his administration will sell one of the private jets purchased by former Governor Peter Odili and use the proceed on a project that will benefit the people.
He said he will ensure that due process was applied in the sale of the aircraft, but did not disclose which of the three aircraft would be sold and why he was selling it.
We will sell it and tie the money to a particular project that we can say, this is what we got out of the plane,” he said
Amaechi made the disclosure at the formal appointment of an Investment Banker and Chairman of IBTC, Mr Atedo Peterside, as Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Matters, with a charge to help in transforming the state.
He, thereafter, asked Peterside to help facilitate the sale, while he worked out blue-print for the return of prosperity and wealth to the state, which has been impoverished.
He said the need to bring technocrats home to help in ensuring development was due to the enormity of the problems which have culminated in unemployment, low standard of living and poverty.
Amaechi, who lamented the poor state of affairs in the state, said there was need for them to work assiduously to re-awaken the spirit of the people to join the train and ensure sustainable economic development.
In an apparent justification of the choice of Peterside, he said the enormity of his exposure, coupled with his wealth of experience, as well as integrity, swayed his consideration which he assured would stimulate ideas and economic growth.
Since you will not want your name to be messed-up, you have to make us work hard to get result. If government fails, it means you too have failed, Amaechi said.
