PH Convoy Attack
January 15, 2008.
MEND Freelance Freedom Fighters; volunteers answering our call to fight against injustice and oppression in the Niger Delta carried out the attack on the convoy of a General Manager with the Nigeria Ports Authority in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
This attack was meant to proof that nothing happens by accident in the Niger Delta, including the bomb explosion on the oil tanker vessel which the GM tried to cover up. The government wants to deceive the world that it can guarantee security and peace in the region. Foreign investors should take a prudent cue from A.P. Moeller-Maersk A/S the worlds biggest container-shipping line which has stopped its vessels from calling at Nigerian ports until justice returns.
The military is making scapegoats out of some officers who have been speaking out against the excesses of the Joint Task Force (JTF) by framing them on missing arms from the armoury. The JTF is involved in extra- judicial killings, rape and brutality against civilians, corruption in high places, theft and other crimes against the people. We salute these brave soldiers who may not get a fair court martial.
Attacks will soon become a daily occurrence and we will not necessarily issue statements on each and everyone except for major significant ones.
