ICPC interrogates Duke, wife for hours

The former Governor of Cross River State , Mr. Donald Duke, and his wife, Onari, were guests of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission on Monday, where they were interrogated over alleged acts of financial misappropriation.

Duke and his wife were said to have been invited by the head of investigation in the commission to answer questions over certain projects executed while in office for eight years.

The Media Consultant to the ICPC, Mr. Folu Olamiti, confirmed that the former governor and his wife were interrogated for several hours.

He said, I can confirm that the former governor and his wife were guests of the commission on Monday and they were both interrogated over certain projects they carried out while in office.

He, however, could not disclose the outcome of the interrogation, noting that the commission was still working to get to the root of the matter.

It was gathered that Duke and the wife arrived at the commissions headquarters at about 9.00am, and left at about 6.00pm.

A source at the commission said the former governor and his wife were interrogated separately.

The allegation against Duke included, among others, a N50m deduction from local government accounts for several months, which was said to have been invested in the multi-billion naira Tinapa project.

In the case of the wife, our source noted that her NGO, Enterprises Nigeria Foundation, was involved in a partnership with the state Poverty Alleviation Commission, for the execution of projects which some petitioners alleged were non-existent.
