Outlaw and wanted leader of the Niger Delta Vigilante Movement, Tom Ateke and a known fighter of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) simply called Boylov have planned to cripple the multi-billion Bonga field, offshore of the country.
The Joint Task Force in the State has however said they were aware of the planned attack and were following the situation carefully having put their personnel on red alert and have made adequate preparations to counter any attack.
The attack according to security reports also includes attacking the Port Harcourt town by the group in what sources in the security circles said was leaked following massive preparations for it.
According to security sources, although there had been adequate infiltration of the ranks of the militant groups, the plot by Ateke and his new found partner in Bayelsa was blown open when they started moving their men and heavy artillery.
It could be recalled that the activity of the Joint Military Task Force in Rivers State drove Ateke and his boys out of the State leading to his eventual relocation to Bayelsa State from where the present Attack was hatched.
