Following the Federal High Court judgment last year, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has appointed a Lagos based real estate firm, Real Estate Derivatives Limited, to sell the forfeited properties of former Bayelsa State Governor, Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha.
The properties were confiscated and forfeited to the Federal Government and the Government of Bayelsa State by the judgments of the Federal High Court, Lagos Division dated 26th and 30th July 2007.
The judgments were in respect of charge No FHC/L/328C/2005, brought against Chief Alamieyeseigha and six others.
It would be recalled that a choice property in South Africa said to belong to Chief Alamieyeseigha was also sold last year.
A total of nine properties are to be sold. Like the South African property which was in a highbrow location, these properties (in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt) are also in the choicest locations.
The sale is to be by sealed bid.
The juiciest property on sale is the Chelsea Hotel, which is located at the Central Business District of Abuja. Other properties in Abuja are a five bedroom house in Maitama District, blocks of flats in Wuse 2 and Wuse Zone 6 and a residential mansion at Ministers Hill, Abuja.
There is also some exclusive and high rent yielding properties in Lagos. In the exclusive residential Abacha Estate, nestled between Dolphin Estate and Second Avenue, Ikoyi, there is available for sale, two blocks of 8 nos. three bedroom apartments.
Another property on the list is a six bedroom detached house at 4A Ilu Drive, Ikoyi.
The Lagos properties are not limited to Ikoyi alone.
There are mini estates of 6 nos. five bedroom houses with servants quarters attached.
Bids for these properties are expected to open on May 22 in Abuja.
