Odili, Sekibo to Testify To ESO Panel

Former governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, and former Minister of Transport, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, will today take the centre stage at the Justice Kayode Eso-led Rivers State Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Abuja.
The commission relocates to Abuja, due to what it calls security reasons.
The commission agreed to relocate to Abuja to enable Odili and Sekibo to testify before the commission.
Also expected to appear at the commission, which temporary location would be the Abuja Sheraton and Towers Hotel are the former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Austin Opara and the immediate past governor of the state, Mr. Celestine Omehia.
The commission, THISDAY gathered, is expected to commence sitting at the Ladi Kwali Conference Hall of Abuja Sheraton Hotels at about 10 a.m.
Media Adviser to Odili, Mr. Emma Okah, said: The former governor is in high spirit and he is expected to use the opportunity of the sitting of the commission to debunk all the allegations made against his person. He welcomes the opportunity to state his case for the public to judge. He will certainly appear.
THISDAY gathered that the former minister of transport and a former secretary to the Rivers State Government between 1999 and 2003, Sekibo, would also appear before the commission.
Some of the issues that will confront those appearing at the Abuja session of the commission include the circumstances leading to the deaths of the former National Vice-Chairman (South-south) of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Chief Marshal Harry, and that of former National Vice-Chairman (South-south) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), A.K. Dikibo.
The former governor of Rivers State is also expected to explain his role in the allegations that he sponsored the activities of some of the militants in the state.
The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Asari Dokubo, had in his testimony last week levelled several allegations against Odili and Sekibo.
Also, the head of the Harry family had said their father had told them several times before his death that the former governor, Odili, wanted to kill him and that there was an attempt to reconcile them before he was killed
Already, members of the commission have started arriving at the Abuja Sheraton Hotels venue of todays sitting.
