There seems to be no let-up in the controversy trailing the purchase of 380 cars by the House of Representatives as the State Security Services (SSS) yesterday interrogated the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Nasir Arab, Director of Legislative Budget and Planning, Kabiru Sulaimon, and Director of Finance and Supply, Bukola Lasisi.
SSS also interrogated six unit heads in the Accounts Depa-rtment, THISDAY learnt last night.
Also yesterday, the National Assembly gave the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) the go-ahead to quiz any member of the assembly or member of staff of the parliament involved in the car purchase saga.
Though the reason behind the SSS interrogation of the management staff of the assembly was unknown, THISDAY, however, gathered that it might not be unconnected with how the documents relating to the cars purchased by the House leaked out to Lagos-based lawyer Festus Keyamo.
Last week, the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges had accused Keyamo of risking criminal charges for being in possession of official documents illegally.
Keyamo had in a petition two weeks ago accused the House leadership of helping itself in the N2.3 billion car purchase deal.
He also alleged that Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited (PAN) breached the terms of the contract to the extent that the automobile company quoted for the Peugeot 407 Sports Automatic model at the cost of N6.2m per unit but supplied Peugeot 407 Comfort Automatic model (which costs N5.1m per unit) at the N6.2m per unit.
