The combined team of Military Joint Task force (JTF) and the regular Police Force, along the Nembe Creek have apprehended 21 suspected members of different deadly cult groups that operate in the area.
The military men, following a tip-off reportedly invade the hideout of the cultist in the early hours of the day who were getting set to carry out a major operations along the creeks.
The Tide learnt that the group of cultists had allegedly been responsible for acts of terrorism along the creeks in Nembe and other neigbouring local government areas in the state.
The state Police Public image maker, Mr Iniobong Ibogette (DSP) said the suspects were arrested at about 4.30 am on the fateful day and handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
He said that as soon as investigation were completed those found to be real cultists would be prosecuted which innocent ones would be set free.
The Tide could recalled that for some years now, Nembe and Brass Creeks have been known as hotbed of criminal activities cumlminating to killing of innocent citizens and members of the security agents.
The latest arrest, a source from the area told The Tide, was to forstal planned disruption of a cultural festival now going in the Nembe kingdom, by the cultists.
