Militants Strike in Port Harcourt, Abduct Two

A final year student of MacDonald University was reportedly taken hostage before his parents at Mbuoba area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, yesterday.

According to spokesman of the Joint Task Force and the army in the state, Lieutenant Col. Sagir Musa, the hostage was abducted right before his parents at their Mbuoba residence.

The dust generated by this had hardly settled when gunmen trailed a lady driving in a Lexus jeep and when they caught up with her, they allegedly drove her in her car to an unknown destination.

Sagir said they later abandoned the jeep with registration number EF 379 PHC.

“Report at the disposal of the JTF indicated that one Mr. Ifeanyi Ejuku, a final year student of MacDonald University, was kidnapped at gun point from his father’s compound located at NTA road, Mbuoba, Port Harcourt, at about 1130hrs today (yesterday).

“He was abducted in the presence of his family members and was taken and put in to a waiting ash-colour Mercedz Benz 190 car, which zoomed off.

“Those responsible for the dastardly act are yet to be ascertained, as no group has claimed responsibility and contact has not been made,” Sagir said

Continuing, he said “the motive is pecuniary. JTF Commander, Brig General AU Mohammed had on receiving the report, alerted and directed all security agencies in the state to remain vigilant with a view to arresting the bandits and to safely secure release of the victim.

“Similarly, a woman was trailed, blocked and forcefully driven in her own vehicle Green-colored Lexus jeep to unknown destination. It happened at Iwofe road, Port Harcourt city at about 2103 hours yesterday.

“The Lexus jeep was abandoned and later recovered. The registration number is: EF 379 PHC.”
