Odili denies plotting against Yar’Adua

former governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, has dispelled the rumour that he was plotting against the government of President Umaru Yar’Adua in the build-up to 2011 with some northern politicians.

Odili, in a statement by his media advisor, Mr. Emma Okah, described the news report headlined “2011: North Plots Against Yar’Adua” as false.

“Dr. Peter Odili has never met anyone or any group of people over the 2011 political calculations.

“He holds President Umaru Yar’Adua in very high esteem and “cannot and will not be part of anything or group(s) that will cause him discomfort, let alone plot against him.

“We want to clearly and unequivocally dissociate the name and person of Dr. Peter Odili from the malicious and patently mischievous insinuation which is not only untrue, but is absolutely unfounded.”

Okah attributed the report to “detractors and those irredeemably committed to tarnishing Dr. Odili’s enduring profile and are determined to damage the good and cordial relationship which Dr. Odili has with the president.”

He advised those behind the story to leave the name of Odili alone, as he had nothing to do with the alleged plot.
