A Shell Spy Police Sergeant, Sylvanus Ebhooman, and six others have been arrested by the Joint Task Force, Operation Restore Hope, for alleged pipeline theft.
Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre of the JTF, Colonel Rabe Abubakar, who confirmed the arrest to the Nigerian Tribune, on Monday, said the suspects allegedly invaded Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC)’s Ughelli Production Centre in Delta State and made away with some 4-inch pipes belonging to the company.
According to him, during preliminary investigations, some items recovered from the suspects included 67 “4-inch” pipes, two drums of condensate, 52 pieces of angle bar and 31 empty metal drums.
Col. Abubakar disclosed that the seven suspects were in the custody of JTF Military Police Detachment in Effurun.
The JTF image maker said the command was determined to eradicate illegal bunkering and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta, adding that, “JTF will spread its net to cover the board so that the world would see who the net might catch.”
