Nigeria must defeat Greece to emerge from group

Defeated Saturday 0-1 by Argentina, Nigeria has to win its next match against Greece on Thursday to book a ticket for the second round.

The match will be difficult for both Super Eagles and their Greek opponents, beaten 2-0 by South Korea on Saturday.

Africa conceded the first defeat in two encounters after host South Africa drew Friday against Mexico in the opening match of the tournament.

The Nigerian team, in the midst of reconstruction, is still trying to seek the best formula to adopt on the field.

However, coach Lars Lagerback promised to make some adjustments in the team to better prepare for the Thursday encounter.

“We will continue the work we have begun with this selection. Nothing is yet lost for us,” Lagerback said.

Indeed, against Argentina, one of the best teams of the tournament, the Nigerian strikers looked timid in front of the goal, because of the absence of a playmaker.
