The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday arraigned two Lebanese at an FCT High Court in Maitama over alleged forgery of Federal Government documents.
Jihad Mohammed Ghraizi, 57, and his son, Mohammed Jihad Ghraizi, 27, allegedly forged four different documents, two of them belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria between Dec. 1999 and June 2008 and presenting same as original copies.
He was alleged to have fraudulently forged a “Letter of Transfer of Shares” and an “Irrevocable Power of Attorney” dated Dec. 27, 1999 thereby fraudulently laying claims to 60% shareholding, and possession of land and building Plot 2025 Dalaba Street, Cadastral Zone AO2 Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, respectively and presenting them as purportedly made in his favour by Madeni Construction Company Ltd.
The two accused persons were further alleged to have made forged “Renewal of Expatriate Quota Positions” and “Revenue Collector’s Receipt” with no: Z007167466 dated 4th June, 2008 and presented same as purportedly made by the Federal Ministry of Interior’s Citizens and Business Department for Madeni Construction Limited.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offences.
Justice Sadiq Umar is to rule today on an application for bail filed by counsel to the accused persons S.I. Ameh, which was opposed by the counsel to EFCC, James Onuh.
Meanwhile the accused persons are to remain in EFCC custody.
