Man Quizzed Over Landing At Port Harcourt Airport With Guns
A 68-year-old Nigerian, who arrived the Port Harcourt airport aboard a Lufthansa aircraft from Germany, was detained and interrogated for being in possession of two double barrel guns, Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Emmanuel Onyesoh has said.
The man, Mr Ambrose Sunny Nwadigo,it was gathered, hails from Imo State.
“A 68 year old man was on his way back from the United States of America aboard a Lufthansa flight, that took off from Germany. No criminal offence has been established against the man,” Onyesoh said.
“He claimed to have obtained license from the United States government for the arms, but he does not have any licence by the Nigerian government authorizing him to bring in guns. He has however been released on bail due to his poor health condition. The investigation is on-going and if found wanting in any way, he will be handed over to the police” he added.
Onyesoh called on persons and groups desirous of importing anything into Nigeria to get acquainted with the list of prohibited items at Nigerian embassies or High Commissions across the world.
