President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria has approved the redeployment of two ministers after three ministers resigned from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to pursue their political ambitions. So far, Adamu Waziri of the Police Affairs ministry, Alhaji Isa Bio of the Sports ministry and Dora Akunyili of the ministry of Information have resigned.
Alhaji Isa Bio has launched a bid to become the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Kwara State, while Dora Akunyili left to seek a senatorial seat and switched from the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressives Grand Alliance .
With the redeployment, Mr Humphrey Abbah, former Minister of State Interior will move to the Ministry of Police Affairs and Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, the Minister of Special Duties, will oversee the Ministry of Sports and the Special Duties Ministry.
More ministers are expected to resign from the FEC as the 2011 elections get closer.
