The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Monday signed a contract agreement with seven contracting partners to drive the SIM Card registration process for six months. The seven contracting partners will handle the registration process in different parts of the country. The contractors are SW Global, Private Networks Nigeria (PNN), Chams, Joint Komputer Kompany JKK, DATAGROUPIT, EAGLE/CBCand E-Kenneth/SageMetrics. The partners will be coordinated by KPMG, an international professional services who will manage the partners from the beginning to the end.
Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Eugene Juwah, at a brief contract signing ceremony Monday in Abuja, charged the contracting partners to handle the project with all seriousness and commitment as it is a Nigerian project.
“As we sign this contract I will appeal to everyone involved in it to handle it with all seriousness. Let us try to do it because of what we are facing today; let us try to do it not only because of the controversy but also because good execution of the contract will make Nigerians happy. This agreement is not only for the NCC or the Nigerian Security Services but for Nigerians and the entire country,” Juwah said.
SW Global will handle the South East – Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, and Imo; while PNN, will handle North Central – Abuja, Plateau, Benue, Niger, Kogi, Kwara and Nassarawa. Chams will handle Lagos, JKK will take charge of the South West – Oyo Osun, Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo.
DATAGROUPIT, will be in charge of the North East – Yobe, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa and Taraba, while EAGLE/CBC willhandle the North West- Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Kano and Jigawa and E-Kenneth/SageMetrics, will take charge of the South South – Cross River, Delta, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa.
Juwah expressed confidence in the process that selected the contractors and urged them to execute the contract with dispatch.
Responding on behalf of the contractors, chief executive of CBC, Mr. Folunso Falaye declared that the NCC and the seven contractors are partners in the same boat and will deliver together on the project.
In his comments, the Head, Project Office, NCC, Mr. Abdullahi Maikano reminded the contractors of the 6-month window for the contract and asked them to work according to schedule.
