Two persons were allegedly killed by kidnappers on Sunday, when they hit a church in Umuebulu, Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, where they kidnapped the paramount ruler of the community, Eze Sunday Njoku.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the hoodlums attacked the church where the chief was worshiping at about 9:30am, withdrew him by force and took him away with them as they headed towards Abia State.
According to a security report, the deceased persons met their death while trying to prevent the hoodlums from escaping with royal father, adding that several other persons received injuries from strayed bullets.
“The paramount ruler of Umuebulu community in Obigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Sunday Njoku, the Ochimba 1 of Umuebulu, was kidnapped from the church at about 0930hours of today.
“The hoodlums who extracted him from his seat inside the church killed about two persons who reportedly attempted to block them. Several others also sustained gunshot injuries from strayed bullets. The criminals headed towards Aba in Abia State with their victim,” report said.
