Lagos pipeline explosion

Oct 18, 1998: At least 1,082 people died at Jesse, in the southeastern state of Delta, when a pipeline exploded as people tried to steal fuel.
June 25, 1999: 15 people were burnt alive in a pipeline explosion at Akute-Odo in southern Nigeria.
Feb 7, 2000: 17 died in a fire started at a pipeline near Ogwe, in the east of Abia state.
March 20, 2000: At least 50 were burnt alive when a pipeline blew up near Isioma, in southwestern Abia state.

June 21, 2000: 28 people died in a fire caused by a pipeline explosion at Okuedjeba, near the southern Warri oilfield.
July 11, 2000: Nearly 300 people died at Warri, Delta state, in a fire caused by a pipeline explosion as people siphoned fuel.

July 23, 2000: At least 40 were killed when a pipeline blew up at Afrokpe village near Sapele in the Warri area. About 15 more died the next day in a second blast.
Nov 30, 2000: About 60 killed when a damaged pipeline exploded near Lagos as hundreds of people illegally collect fuel.

Nov 5, 2001: 15 people died in a pipeline blowup caused by an oil leak at Umudike, in the southeastern state of Imo.
June 19, 2003: 125 people killed by a pipeline explosion in the village of Ovim in Abia state, where they were trying to collect petrol.

Sept 16, 2004: Almost 60 people died in a pipeline blast on the outskirts of Lagos.
Dec 22, 2004: 27 died as villagers try to take fuel from a damaged pipeline at Ilado, near Lagos.
May 12, 2006: Some 200 died in a pipeline inferno at a beach near Lagos.
Dec 26, 2006: At least 200 killed in a blast at a pipeline as people stole petrol in the Abule Egba district of northern Lagos.
