Fuel scarcity bites harder in Delta

Motorists in Delta State have been experiencing hard times as the price of petrol has gone beyond their reach.

Already, inter and intra city transport fares had been jerked up in view of the prohibitive prices of PMS.

Besides, filling stations in major towns in the state have remained shut in the past one week due to non-availability of petrol to dispense to willing buyers.

As at Wednesday, a litre of petrol sold for between N100.00 and N150.00 at the few filling stations where the product was available in the state.

Desperate motorists have reportedly been travelling some kilometers outside the major cities to source for PMS.

Findings by our correspondent in Asaba, Kwale, Ughelli, Effurun, Warri and Sapele, revealed that virtually all the major and independent dealers shut their retail outlets as the effect of the scarcity bit harder in the areas.

Specifically, a few filling stations, which had the product in the areas, witnessed long queues and sold at an exhorbitant price of N120.00 per litre. It was only in remote areas that PMS was sold for as low as N100.00 per litre.
