A Â Dutch oil worker and a Nigerian serviceman were killed on Tuesday when armed men attacked a small ferry near the Bonny Island oil and gas export complex, industry sources said.
There were conflicting early reports of the attack on the boat operated by the South Korean conglomerate Hyundai. Two industry sources said a total of four people, including one Dutch oil worker and a nigerian serviceman, were killed.
A third industry source said those two were killed and four people were injured.
“Militants attacked a Hyundai company boat in transit from Port Harcourt to Bonny Island, one navy rating and one Dutch expat were killed and two locals were killed,” one of the sources said, asking not to be named.
The Dutch embassy in Nigeria was not immediately available for comment. A local police spokesman said he was not aware of the incident.
