At least 30 people were seriously injured in a violent clash between the supporters of two political parties in northeast Nigeria’s Zamfara state.
State commissioner of police Mohammed Jinjiri Abubakar disclosed this to Xinhua in Gusau, the state capital on Sunday.
The police chief said the 30 injured people; mostly supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) were receiving treatment at Bakura General Hospital.
He said the police have arrested 17 people in connection with the fracas.
According to him, there were few cases of ballot box snatching in Mafara, Gusau and Bukkuyum areas of the state.
