| The Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP) has stated that an additional 1,000-megawatts have been added to Nigeria ’s electricity supply since President Goodluck Jonathan assumed power less than a year ago. In its progress report released Monday, Chairman of the Communication Committee of the task force, Mr. Abimbola Agboluaje, also stated that due to better management of power supply, only one system collapse had been so far recorded in 2011 as opposed to three or four per month in the preceding years. He noted that Jonathan’s administration has successfully prevented wild fluctuation in power supply as supply had been stabilised at 3, 800 megawatts, describing this figure as the highest ever in the industry. Agboluaje said about 3, 000 distribution transformers and associated power equipment nationwide had been installed, adding that some Nigerians are enjoying more hours of power supply because of the rehabilitation and recovery of existing generation plants. |
