Port Harcourt Kids Stuff - polo club

Tombia Street
GRA ll

The same mum who found the Delight Zone for us also sent us this idea for a kids day out....

Just turn up at the gate (when there are no polo games on; avoid Saturdays) and they will let you in.

Drive and park. Ask the attendant in the ticket-entrance kiosk if anyone would like to make some cash giving pony rides to the children. You may need to persevere.  He'll go and get 'someone'.

Dash the attendant (his own separate payment).  Negotiate with the 'someone'.

Generally I negotiate up-front N500 per child.  If I have a group of children I ask for two or three horses.  You'll then have to wait 10 - 15 mins while the horses and their 'keepers' are summoned.  When they arrive, each child gets one or two 5 minute rides on the horse.

They can sit with the jockey in the saddle, or they can sit alone while the jockey leads the horse around the grounds. Or two kids can sit together and be lead around.

Afterwards we drive down Tombia Street 2 minutes to 'Brewsters' which is a clean and reasonably new fast food outlet, with a small indoor playground, and, if you ask, someone will put on a chicken suit or a Mickey Mouse suit and come out to interact with the kids.
