how did it start
OyibosOnline got started while killing time over a particularly bad rainy season. As more people were coming to the Garden City - then some kind of a hand book had to be built.
I bribed a few of my friends with promises of alcohol and took them to a few of my favourite watering holes around town, camera in hand.
Some weeks of self taught HTML later and the basic version of what you see now was born.
It was quickly found by a few search engines that got it listed and the hits started slowly coming in. The rest, as they say, is history.
OOL is now into its sixth year on and we’re still growing strong with the hit count still climbing consistently month after month. The style and layout of the site may have changed over the years but the commitment to accuracy and quality never has. We have now teamed up with a a professional web site designer, and we are confident you will be pleased with all the new features and services that we plan to offer you.
We're were listed as the definitive guide to Nigeria by Nexus Magazine as well as having been added to Wikipedia and a variety of other expat oriented sites. We have been linked and quoted in news articles featured on CNN, Sky News, The Washington Post and the Herald Tribune to name but a few.
This website’s address is now routinely sent out by local and international companies alike to their soon to be resident staff.
It is also viewed as the first stop for security updates and breaking news by foreign governments and security agencies worldwide.
