chief speaks
Why did I hide behind a psyeudonym?
There were a few reasons for this.
- The first one was being laughed at in the pub for even thinking this would work. Yes! Even I have a shy side!
- The second one being to shield my already dubious reputation, and that of my spouse, should the whole thing receive a negative response and go pear shaped.
- The third was that I believed that to give the site a 'real' face would limit it's appeal because of nationality, gender or time in country.
- The last - and if I'm completely honest - the main reason for keeping my identity secret was because of security concerns. Freedom of speech can be a luxury at times in Nigeria and I truly didn't want to take the chance of pissing the wrong people off
More about Me!
I first came to Port Harcourt in 1995 and did a few years in the Garden City. I then headed off to Russia and then onto Turkmenistan for a while. The vodka drinking and snow shovelling soon got to me. I was built for warmer climes.
I returned to Nigeria in 2000.
I've held a couple of different jobs during my time in town. Some have been more fun than others but - to save my former employers any embarassment at being stupid enough to employ me in the first place - I won't name names.
